"Workshop titled 'The Wise Teachings of Nature'"
The annual design workshop by DD Architects, titled 'Aya - The Learnings of Nature,' was a productive and delightful event that took place online from May 28th to June 1st, 2021. Since 2017, DD Architects have been conducting these workshops, providing a platform for architecture students and professionals interested in sustainable design and nature-inspired architecture to learn and grow.
This year's workshop was no exception, as it featured industry patrons such as Mr. Padmabhushan Rajeev Sethi, an acclaimed designer and art curator, Mr. Dominic Sansoni, a photographer and associate of Geoffrey Bawa, and Mr. KB Jinan, an eminent thinker and designer.
The workshop was methodic, practical, and well-presented, with each session averaging around 30 minutes. Two faculty members from the fashion design department, Saumya Pande (Course Leader) and Pragya Sharma (Assistant Professor), were invited to host workshops during the 'Aya' workshop.
Ms. Pande's session focused on making connections with nature and observing humanity in accordance with the environment. Meanwhile, Ms. Sharma spoke about the natural raw materials available and the breakdown process used for extracting colors from plant materials.
The workshop primarily focused on enlightening design students and young architects, touching upon design nuances like earth landscapes, agriculture, flora fauna, craft, textiles, and art forms. The faculty members spoke about the benefits of nature to society without causing environmental harm, creating an inspiring and intensive learning environment that received applause from its viewers.
The 'Aya' workshop created memorable and learning experiences for its attendees. It was a testament to DD Architects' commitment to fostering a sustainable and nature-inspired design community. With such productive and delightful events, it is no wonder that the 'Aya' workshop continues to be a highlight on DD Architects' calendar.
